SBC CATALOGUE / GUIDE SELECTION

SBI OR SBR?
Start with the axis.

Both guide families are built for demanding linear motion. Their contact type is only the first distinction. The model drawing and the load case decide what belongs on your machine.

SBC LINEAR / BALL VERSUS ROLLER

The short answer

SBI is SBC Linear’s current heavy-load ball guide family. SBR is its roller guide family, described by SBC for high rigidity and load in machine-tool applications. Each family has flange and slim carriage formats. Neither family is a universal substitute for the other: the mounting envelope, force direction, moments, rail arrangement and operating duty must be checked at model level.

A machine builder often starts with a shorthand such as “SBI 25” or “roller guide 35.” That does not describe a finished assembly. The carriage length, mounting-hole pattern, rail length and number of blocks still matter. SBC publishes individual model rows and drawing links for its current guide formats. Use them to identify the exact geometry before requesting a price.

The table is a starting map, not a sizing result. A catalogue rating needs to be applied to the forces and duty of your machine. If those inputs are not yet known, send the assembly drawing and the intended use so the selection can be narrowed without guessing.

A five-step selection check

01

Draw the load path

Mark the moving mass, its centre of gravity, cutting or process forces, orientation and travel direction. Off-centre loads can create moments that a simple weight figure does not show.

02

Measure the mounting space

Check the block envelope, rail seat, fastener access and the space for seals and lubrication. A flange and a slim block attach differently, even within one guide family.

03

Compare exact model rows

Open the SBI or SBR dimension table for the candidate format. Compare block and rail dimensions, dynamic and static load ratings, permissible moments and the linked drawing where supplied.

04

Confirm the complete configuration

Record rail length, block quantity, accuracy and preload requirements, plus any protection or lubrication choices. These details belong in the final ordering-code discussion.

05

Check the replacement risk

If you are replacing an older SBG, SBS or another guide, keep the original code and drawing. Similar names or nominal sizes do not prove that a new carriage will fit an old rail.

From comparison to a useful quote

Automation Empire handles SBC Linear enquiries from Delhi for individual parts and wholesale quantities. Send the existing code or proposed series, rail length, carriage count, application, quantity and delivery PIN code. If the design is new, include load direction, travel, speed and a drawing of the mounting faces. We can then discuss the relevant SBI or SBR model and confirm the configuration before quoting. Delhi NCR same-day delivery depends on item availability, order time and destination; pan-India dispatch is arranged after the order is confirmed.

For technical reference, see SBC Linear’s SBI flange guide data and SBR flange guide data. Our SBI model table and SBR model table also expose published dimensions and available drawing links in a searchable format.

Questions before choosing

Is SBR always the better choice for a heavy machine?

No. SBC positions SBR as a high-rigidity roller guide, but the right guide depends on the actual load, moments, mounting space and operating conditions. Compare the exact SBI and SBR model rows before deciding.

Can an SBR carriage run on an SBI rail?

Do not assume that carriages or rails from different families interchange. Match the published rail and carriage drawings and confirm the complete assembly before ordering.

What is the difference between FL and FLL?

These are different carriage length formats within a product series. Their mounting dimensions and ratings can differ; check the relevant model table rather than treating the suffix as a cosmetic change.

Can Automation Empire quote one guide or a full axis set?

Yes. Send the exact model code, rail length, block quantity and delivery location. Retail and wholesale enquiries are both welcome.
